Urban Warrior

My daughter produced several self-portraits during her undergraduate course in music marketing, one of which she gave me permission to use in this mixed media work. I seem to remember using a reverse image transfer technique to apply this to watercolour paper. Additional urban images were used, one of which shows the escalator leading to an underground station. These are subtle background images intended to provide a general ‘feel’. After this, it was a case of blitzing the piece with distress inks, mark-making, and use of ink stamps. I was quite pleased with the grungy colours, particularly the blues. ‘Urban Warrior’ was a title suggested by my wife, although what exactly the subject is fighting for remains open to your imagination.
