Parachairus

Para: alongside of, beside, near, resembling, beyond, apart from, or abnormal.

Chairus: Philosopher, Careful, Beautiful

This piece started as a series of fairly random markings using indian ink on watercolour paper. The influence was Deviprasad Rao (an artist who was himself influenced by Klee, Pollok and Gorky). Some of the shapes and markings are filled with watercolour washes for added effect.

It is the first in a series, each of which will begin with the prefix, ‘Para’ and is truly abstract in that it means whatever you want it to mean.
